Photo: Nancy Mendoza ![]() 2008 has been another good year for Davit Souders, voted one of Urban Tulsa Weekly Magazine’s “Hot 100 Movers & Shakers and people to watch in 2007 and 2008”. The year marks number 18 for his company Diabolical Productions LLC. That includes his broadcasting experience with the radio show Technopolis 1990-1994 and eight years featuring local and regional music on Z-104.5 KMYZ The Edge’s Home Groan 1996-2004. Running concurrently with Home Groan, Home Groan Live featured live performances from local artists recorded at Cain’s Ballroom 1998-1999. And the of course the thousands of performing artists and concert events and festival that have simply been Diabolical Productions. Since 2006, Davit hosts This 70’s Show and the local music show, Local Flavors both on KRSC RSU Radio 91.3FM. Also in 2006, he and producer Dustin Parkhurst introduced their internet broadcast/podcast featuring Tulsa area music, Hometown Heroes. In 2007, Souders was named program director and host and Parkhurst producer of the podcast iROK Radio (Independent Radio Oklahoma) featuring music and musicians from throughout Oklahoma. Souders managed and booked Tulsa’s well known late Eighties club SRO (Standing Room Only) 1986-1990, owned the nationally recognized nightclub/music venue IKON 1990-1997 and was behind it’s brief but successful return in 2004, and was the talent/media buyer and production manager for the world famous Cain’s Ballroom 1996-2000 and has been booking shows in the ballroom since 1990. Souders serves as the Associate Director for Billboard Magazine’s World Songwriting Contest, the Entertainment Director on the Oklahoma Scottish Festival Board Of Directors, and previously on the Tulsa Band Coalition Board of Directors. Beginning in 2000, Souders was a featured lecturer at the Jim Halsey School Of Entertainment And Music Business. During his four semesters, his courses included “Touring And Promotion”, “Nightclub And Music Venue Ownership & Management” and “The World Of Radio”. Beginning Fall of 2008, Souders will again contribute to the series as the Halsey Institute launches it’s online courses for colleges and universities around the country. In 2006, Souders was named the Festival/Production Coordinator and Talent Buyer for D-Fest, Oklahoma's 2-day Music Conference And Festival showcase featuring over 150 local, regional and national artists. As a performer and recording artist, Souders garnered four Tulsa World Spot Magazine Award nominations and two wins with his band DDS. Currently, Souders fronts DDS, Rideshy Ritual, and is a member of the local all-star band Team Galaxy, which appear each holiday season performing on TV. All three groups have enjoyed the privilege of performing several time at the historic Cain’s Ballroom. In May of 2006, Diabolical Productions became the parent company for DiaboliTrade, which develops and executes show posters and concert file archives administration for Diabolical Productions. Also in 2006, Souders created Diabolicast for all related broadcasting productions. After many years on the drawing board, Souders and partner Erv Felker launched their label Hex Appeal Records in late 2006. 2008 will see additional cd compilations from his Podcast/broadcast shows, IROK Radio and Hometown Heroes. And Souders will launch DiaboliGear which will feature original graphic design t-shirts, postcards and buttons.As an emcee Souders has worked at the Cain’s Ballroom, The Mansion Theater in Branson, Missouri, SXSW in Austin, Texas, Mayfest and the Van Trese Performing Arts Center, both in Tulsa, and at Oklahoma State University. Since 1990, Diabolical Productions has brought (to Tulsa and Oklahoma) Nine Inch Nails, Cake, Foo Fighters, Clutch, Marilyn Manson, A.F.I., Ministry, Reverend Horton Heat, KMFDM, Medeski Martin & Wood, Garbage, The Offspring, Beck, Social Distortion, Morrissey, The Crystal Method, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Dick Dale, Gravity Kills, Our Lady Peace, Primus, Filter, Anthrax, Misfits, Rollins Band, Mudhoney, Rancid, The Cramps, Toadies, Hoobastank, Blue October, Limp Bizkit, White Zombie, George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars, Jim Rose Circus Sideshow, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pavement, Guided By Voices, Flaming Lips, Wilco, Jerry Cantrell, They Might Be Giants, Frank Black, David Byrne, The Dead Milkmen, Agent Orange, X, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Helmet, Leon Russell, Presidents Of The United States Of America, Fishbone, Pennywise, and hundreds more... |
