Dustin Parkhurst is a multi-award winning writer and producer, as well as an established voice talent. Dustin got his start in broadcasting during his sophomore year at Oklahoma State University where he took a Midnight air shift on the campus radio station. A year later, he began sharpening his broadcasting skills as an intern at “The Spy” KSPI 93.7-FM in Stillwater. In the fall of 1997 the directors of Orange Peel, the largest student-produced event in the nation, were searching for a pair of students to emcee the event. Dustin blew away the competition taking the honor of being the first student “Voice of Orange Peel” all for himself. He graduated a few months later with a degree in advertising, and soon took a copywriter position at Cox Radio, Inc. in Tulsa. Dustin’s role at Cox Radio quickly expanded. Impelling him to become an accomplished producer, sought after voice talent, and on-air personality at KRAV for two years on his way to becoming the Director of Creative Services. It was at Cox Radio that Dustin was introduced to Davit Souders where they collaborated on a commercial for one of Davit’s DiabolicalTM events. The creative chemistry was indubitable. Davit and Dustin were soon scheming over other projects including how to bring Tulsa’s diverse music scene to the masses using this new Podcasting medium. After a little tinkering in the studio, and a quick read through Podcasting For Dummies, Hometown Heroes Tulsa was born.
